of your comments in response to other person's correspondence and I
must say that your frase "showing them in a way of appreciation
to my island, the way most of us see it when we no longer live in
it" gave me a sense of melancholy. Pictures are the way most us
of see our Island when we no longer live in it! Thank you for
showing me what I cannot see.
I just went to Puerto Rico in the
fall of 2006. Took about a thousand of pictures with my tiny
digital camera. I read some of your pointers and good advice in
how to take great pictures and now that I'm planning another trip
this fall 2007, I will make sure I implement them in my pictures.

I'm glad my pointers are helping you and if you have a question,
don't hesitate drop me a line. Many here don't know that I moved back
to the states last Oct/2006. I'm also planning a trip to the island
around fall, the site will be up and new pictures will be posted.
This site started when I was living in the states, yet thru my
multiple visits I wasted no time to go out and take pictures of my
beautiful Island.

Me siento muy
orgulloso de ser Arecibeño de Corazon, y Boricua como el
Danzon... Muy agradecido de que este site este al servicio de
los que como yo, nos encontramos lejos de nuestra dulce tierra.
Es muy bonito poder apreciar la belleza de nuestra |

travez de este medio. Las noticias de los problemas en que se
encuentra nuestra Islita son muy deprimientes y pues, no nos
demuestra en la calidad que debe. Como siempre, la politica nos
da mal nombre internacionalmente, especialmente cuando hay tanta
polemica con los Latinos aqui en EEUU. Mirando las fotos de
antaño a traido una lagrima a mis ojos... lagrima de felicidad
al ver que todavia hay alguien que si tiene un interes genuino en

Queridos amigos:
Antes que
nada quiero felicitarlos por el extraordinario trabajo que
están haciendo remontando a los puertorriqueños a distancia |

con nuestra
bella Isla del Encanto. Me llamo Janet García y soy del
pueblo de Humacao. Para mí, ver las fotos que publican
es castigarme con el síndrome “home sick”.
Puedo estar horas largas mirando el verdor de la naturaleza, los
reflejos del candente sol, la pureza del agua, la belleza de las
flores y más aun la autenticidad del fotógrafo.
Navegar por su pagina esta bien cerquita de “estar en Puerto
Rico”. Siempre uso los “wallpapers” en mi
computadora y recibo muchos elogios de lo bella que es la isla.
Para mi el fenómeno del “despegue” no se ha dado ni
creo que se de. Ya llevo siete anos viviendo en la Florida y
cada día añoro más la Isla. Le
enseño a mi hijo fotos de Puerto Rico y a apreciarlas.
También le enseño a pronunciar y a acentuar su nombre
con tono boricua, Sebastián. No patrocino el enviar
páginas a otras personas pero esta es un orgullo enviarla al
mundo y hacernos notar como parte de la belleza y el esplendor.

yo no hubiera nacido en la tierra en que nací, estuviese

POPR: Bueno, ¿que más les puedo decir? Me siento
alagado por todo el apoyo que ustedes me brindan y de poder poner mi
granito de arena en especial para los que estan fuera de la isla. Me
reconoce la gente hasta en la calle y me saludan como si hace tiempo
nos conocieramos, me siento como Forrest Gump, I
didn't ask
for this fame or popularity.
Cada vez que
presiono el obsturador de una cámara y plasmo un pedacito de
mi isla siento una gran satisfacción; No sabemos (y me
incluyo) no solo lo bonito que tiene esta isla, si no tambien la
historia que tiene cada pueblo. Mi abuelo
(Praxedes
Collazo) trabajó en la División para la Educación
a la Comunidad bajo la administración de don Luis Muñoz
Marin. Crecí entre afiches y panfletos de Puerto Rico y otra
información. Esto desde temprana edad despertó
interés en lo que es mi isla aunque ese interés estuvo
dormido hasta los 18 años. Luego se puso a un lado por las
responsabilidades cotidianas y comenzó nuevamente en el
año 2002 al regresar de EEUU; ¿a quien no les gusta el
sol, la playa y la arena cuando viene a la isla? Lo cierto es que el
verdadero Puerto Rico se encuentra montaña adentro. Salud,
mucha salud, pues con el la bendición del que esta allá
arriba y el apoyo de ustedes, esto va pa' largo.
Ahh, que no
se me olvide porque me 'guinda', mi eterno agradecimiento a mi
chulísima esposa Jeannette (recuadro abajo). Simpre ha
creído en mi y en el proyecto llamado Photos of Puerto

Well my
friend, I just wanted to say that I am glad your great website is
back up. I look at your site often to get ideas and also just marvel
at the beauty of Puerto Rico as seen through your eyes. I cannot
express how much I envy you, the beauty within |

Puerto Rico
is I believe second to none. When I visited a few days ago and your
website was down it was like a part of me was missing. You know, I
don't steal images nor do I seek to copy others work. First off, I do
not believe we should steal images from online and secondly I do not
think we should plagiarize from one another. An artists work should
be admired and a person should seek to learn from the artists
renderings. Enough said on that subject.
Well my
friend, I have much to do, like you. This afternoon I am going to a
local shop and look at Macro lenses, I am leaning towards a
Sigma
105MM, F2.8 EX DG lens. It is affordable to me, will do what I
need and most importantly allow me to give my subject a little
breathing room. some of the little critters don't like folks getting
too close. Take care my brother. Once again, thanks for your
website. I know it is a lot of work, posting pictures, editing
folders, composing pics, and then transmitting them o the server, but
we all love the beauty your hard work affords us. Those of us apart
from and those who have never visited Puerto Rico thank you.

Well, hello José, thank you very much for your kind and
sincere words. Yes, we did have an incident with our web host and we
were off-line the whole weekend. We received numerous emails form
people asking what happened. We thank them all too. You are right,
the beauty of this island is second to none. Unfortunately and most
of the time we need to live some place else to realize what we have.
The idea of
creating this site came when I was living in the states. I felt home
sick so many times but had nowhere to see a little 'chunk' of our
island on the web. Although I used to visit the Island 2-4 times a
year, there was little I could do, Puerto Rico is not only San Juan;
the island as a whole is one beautiful place so there was little to
photograph in a week or two. For personal reasons I moved back and I
started what I always dreamt. A place where I could share pictures of
the Island with fellow Puerto Ricans, showing them in a way of
appreciation to my island, the way most of us see it when we no
longer live in it.
I'm flattered
you come to this site and adopt our work. If you'd like to share it
with us, be our guest. Good call on the Sigma 105mm, I've had the
chance to play with one a few months ago and it is a very sharp lens.
I own Sigma lenses and definetly you can't go wrong with Sigma's EX
glass. I'm currently using a Tamron 90mm SP F/2.8 for shots like
this one
and this
one.
I'm looking forward to the new Nikon 105 VR because I do a
lot of hand held macro. A pleasure to have you here José, this

to go to Puerto Rico to do some photography and travel. As a matter
of fact, I trained as a Surgeon at the Municipal Hospital in San Juan

occasions some of the history of such a beautiful island.
Unquestionably,
you are living in a paradise!
On regard to
a trip there, what would be the best way to move around the Island?
What could be a good time to go? I believe Ponce is a must go
location and unquestionably, since it has been so long since I was
there I am sure there are plenty of places to visit in San Juan. Any
information that could help me with my trip shoul be most appreciated.

William, the best way to move around the Island is in a car. Public
transportation is quite slow and many times unpredictable, especially
out of San Juan. Ponce
is a great photographic place,
our recomendation is to stop by el Parque de Bombas which is a
tourist info center. Since its been so long since your last time in
the Island, consider our National Rain Forest El Yunque. Aguadilla,
Isabela, Cabo Rojo and of course, the town of the
beautiful sunstets, Rincón, should be in your travel agenda. |

que embarga a los hermanos boricuas fuera de su isla. La idea del
website siempre estuvo latente, pero fisicamente la distancia nos
separaba las bellezas naturales de esta isla de nuestros lentes.

there can be more photos taken in
Aibonito. yeah la festival de la flores is big, but i feel that there
is so much more to aibonito than just its beautiful flowers. there
are certain other things that go on all year round. and maybe the
people want to see the pride that all puerto ricans have (not just
speaking for aibonito, other towns too). I can understand if this
cannot be possible, just thought i'd throw out a suggestion. I travel
to my country 4 times a year, and i plan to move out there this
summer. so if i end up getting a digital camera, is it possible if i
could send some pictures of events and beautiful sites in puerto rico?
