Picture Field Trip in Arroyo, Puerto Rico
-Arroyo, Puerto Rico---January-22nd 2005-
Photo Trek
in Arroyo, Puerto Rico:
The town of
Arroyo, Puerto Rico was the center of our last photo trek. As usual,
we've had a great time with our friends and new comers, like the
energetic couple of Maricarmen Rodriguez and husband. Friends like,
José Gonzalez, Kenny Enriquez, Angel
Jusíno,
Gino Ferreira etc. honored us with their presence on this beautiful
Saturday. We started in the Central Azucarera Lafayette (Sugar Cane
Mill). What was once a noisy place is today surrounded by silence.
Only the howling southern winds can be heard inside this
phantasmagorical place. Huge rusted turbines, conveyors and kettles
are mute reminders of a typical Puerto Rican scene, La Central
Azucarera. Afterwards we headed to the newly restored lighthouse and
the old windmill ruins. Last but not least, our stay at El
Malecón was filled with photo opportunities. Colored pubs
along el Malecón were complemented with a spectacular sunset.
Note!
We went inside la central Azucarera Lafayette. There is no sign
posted that you can't do so, however, we do not recommend anyone to
go in there. This place is filled with old heavy rusted machinery;
The structure is quite unstable and falling apart.
