Question/comment from Mr. E. Martinez: I have a comment about the flower of the Maga tree. What you pictured is the flower of the amapola or pabón (as we called it in Utuado)

Answer: Thanks for your time, well, the Maga flower is the one you will see in carnivals, parades and other events around Puerto Rico thus known as the National Flower. This is among many things namely differently depending on the geographical areas around Puerto Rico. The photos you see below is what is know as Amapolas in the central mountain side of the Island; We have received comments from visitors that this is neither Maga or Amapola but Hibiscus, see our point? Many things from our daily life have different names depending on the areas, especially the West side starting in Arecibo down to Hormigüeros.

What in other areas is known as ''Ollas'' they are ''Calderos''. You ask for a ''Caldero'' in Arecibo and they give you an ''Olla'' and viceversa. What for you and me is ''Sofrito'' on the West side is known as ''Molido''. Other words will be posted here soon so stick around.

Ahh!, After interacting with so many people on the West area, you'll notice a different accent as well. What you and me can express in a situation ''Ea rayos!, or Anda pal cará'!'' they do express it as ''Valgame! or Baa! You ask in Mayagüez for an ''Empanadilla'' and they'll give you a ''Pastelillo'', ask for a Pastelillo and they'll give you ''Empanadilla''. 3 sided bananas known in some towns as Rompe C#$%os, they are ''Piches'' in Arecibo but ''Tres Filos'' in Las Marias, Oh God! My ice tray are ''cubetas de hielo'', in Arecibo and Las Marias are ''Cuajaderas''. We want to those saborosos ''Guanimes'' con bacalao but in Mayagüez they don't call them that way. You have to ask for ''Mapiros'' con bacalao....

To be continued...

Question: What kind of cameras are used to take such wonderful pictures?

Answer: This question is constantly asked, truth is that any camera may capture beautiful images. But a camera is just a camera, what it takes depends on the one behind it. Good and expensive professional cameras are merely tools. They will take beautiful pictures but also can take bad ones. No need to have the most expensive one for great pictures as we've seen great images with regular consumer cameras (like the one you might have).
For the most part, including the site editors and webmaster, all are using Nikon Proffesional cameras. Digitals and film based depending on the situations, some situations still demand 35mm film preferable slide film.

UPDATE: Due to nuemerous requests, we have posted a more
detailed answer here-».
